On December 17, Dubai time, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced that Dubai Silicon Oasis (referred to as DSO) became the first commercial operation area at the launch ceremony of Dubai drone Logistics commercial operation, and issued the BVLOS drone delivery commercial operation qualification certificate for Meituan drones. It was also the first certificate issued in the region. We can see the further development of the automation equipment market, the future CMOS chip module market will be further expanded, the application market will be more extensive.
It is reported that in order to better improve the efficiency and experience of urban instant distribution, in 2017, Meituan launched the exploration of drone delivery services, promoted the change of performance tools through scientific and technological innovation, and accelerated the construction of local instant distribution network of open space coordination. At present, the team has completed the research and development and construction of autonomous flying drones, intelligent scheduling systems and efficient operation systems, creating a low-altitude urban logistics solution that serves multiple scenarios and multiple weather conditions.
The program was approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in early 2023, and obtained the "Civil Unmanned Aircraft Operation Certificate" issued by the bureau. Since 2023, the UAS has brought its self-developed aircraft, automated airport and intelligent dispatch system to Dubai, and has made a large number of adaptation modifications to Dubai's environmental challenges such as high temperature and poor signal. Subsequently, after the initial review of the regulator, document review, on-site operation verification and other aspects of the review, while the team also completed a large number of drone delivery test tasks under supervision, it was able to pass the final approval.
After obtaining the relevant qualification certification, Meituan UAV also began to explore commercial operation in the local as an aviation operator. A number of test routes opened with partners such as Fakeeh University Hospital (FUH), Americana and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) will be converted directly into commercial service. Continue to provide users with food, drinks, desserts and medicine and other goods flight delivery services, the future will also explore more scenarios such as emergency application opportunities.
During the testing phase of the new route in the DSO area, the new service has received a lot of positive reviews. Studies have shown that drones deliver 84 percent less greenhouse gas emissions per package than diesel trucks and consume 94 percent less energy. According to the 2-3 km distribution distance of UAVs, the carbon emission gap between UAVs and fuel vehicles is more than 10 times.
The head of Meituan Drones said: "The UAE's policy environment friendly for scientific and technological innovation and drone applications is a prerequisite for promoting our 'flying up' in the local area, and it is also one of the important reasons for Meituan to choose the local area as the first stop for international development. We hope to explore more possibilities of low-altitude economy through the way of science and technology going to sea, so that China's science and technology can achieve mutual benefit and win-win results with more open countries and regions."
It is believed that in the near future, we can see more applications of unmanned devices in our lives, and the development of CMOS chip modules will also be worth looking forward to.
